Following the enthusiasm of groups and individuals who have in previous years erected encampments around the magnificent estate of Herstmonceux Castle, not only to to recreate history for personal enjoyment but to offer displays and 'hands on' exhibits for the public to experience, it was decided to award them for their extraordinary efforts by staging a Living History Competition. This has proved such a success that the prize money has been increased to £2000 and further categories have been included. Bronze cast trophies will bear the names of those winning groups from year to year.
Prizes will be awarded on the Sunday so the winners can celebrate at the Festival!

· Tents must have a distance of no less than 2 metres between them.
· Potential dangers within the encampments i.e. trip hazards (tent pegs), blades and open fires should be roped off.
